Piedmont — Piedmont Middle School presents Frozen JR musical Oct. 23–25

Student performers and stage crew members from Piedmont Middle School will present four public performances of the musical "Frozen JR." from Friday, October 23, through Sunday, October 25, at the Alan Harvey Theater in Piedmont. The family-friendly stage production opens on Friday, October 23, at 7:00 p.m., followed by a matinee and evening doubleheader on Saturday, October 24, at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., and a closing Sunday matinee on October 25 at 2:00 p.m. Located at 800 Magnolia Avenue, the campus theater hosts performing arts showcases for the entire Piedmont Unified School District.

Adapted from the 2018 Broadway stage musical, "Frozen JR." brings the story of royal sisters Anna and Elsa to life in a streamlined production that runs approximately 75 minutes, including a brief intermission. The score features beloved songs from the Academy Award-winning animated motion picture with music and lyrics composed by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, alongside five additional musical numbers written specifically for the Broadway stage adaptation. Middle school vocalists, dancers, and technical lighting students have rehearsed since the start of the autumn semester.

Performing arts faculty and parent booster committee volunteers coordinated costume design, scenic painting, and sound engineering inside the modernized Alan Harvey Theater facility. Educational arts advocates across Piedmont, Oakland, and neighboring Lamorinda communities emphasized that middle school theatrical productions build public speaking confidence, collaborative problem-solving skills, and creative expression among adolescent students. Proceeds from ticket sales directly support theatrical licensing fees, stage equipment maintenance, and future school district drama programs.

Admission tickets are currently available for advance purchase online through the school district arts portal and will also be sold at the theater box office window prior to each curtain time, subject to seating availability. Organizers noted that tickets purchased in person at the door incur an additional $2 per-ticket administrative surcharge compared to advance online reservations. Box office volunteers at the theater entrance accept both cash payments and personal checks made payable directly to PUSD.

Families, neighbors, and East Bay arts supporters can reserve advance seats or check matinee availability through the district portal at piedmont.k12.ca.us or by calling the Piedmont Middle School administrative office at (510) 594-2668. Doors at the Alan Harvey Theater on Magnolia Avenue will open thirty minutes prior to each scheduled showtime.
