Curators, fine arts faculty, and student gallery assistants at the Saint Mary's College Museum of Art (SMCMoA) at 1928 Saint Mary's Road in Moraga are welcoming Lamorinda residents and East Bay art lovers this week to the museum's late-autumn exhibition cycle. As Contra Costa County's only museum accredited by the American Alliance of Museums, the campus institution offers free public admission five days a week amid the white Mission Revival arcades and golden oak hills of the Moraga Valley.

This autumn's featured curatorial pairing places selections from the museum's renowned permanent collection of more than 160 nineteenth- and early-twentieth-century paintings by Scottish-California landscape master William Keith into dialogue with contemporary photography, botanical works on paper, and sculptural installations by Northern California artists. Alongside historic oil canvases depicting Mount Tamalpais, Yosemite Valley, and East Bay live oaks, contemporary gallery rooms examine how wildfire resilience, watershed stewardship, and seasonal light shape the modern Bay Area landscape.

In cooperation with the Town of Moraga, the Moraga School District, and Acalanes Union High School District art educators, the museum is also hosting Thursday afternoon curator talks and self-guided outdoor campus sculpture walks leading up to the hillside cross overlook. Visitors can pick up a printed campus sculpture map at the museum front desk before strolling through the redwood grove and chapel lawn.

The Saint Mary's College Museum of Art is open Wednesday through Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with visitor parking permits available via mobile kiosks near the main campus entrance. Exhibition details and lecture dates are listed online at stmarys-ca.edu/museum-of-art or by calling (925) 631-4379.
