Erin and Ford Andrews, the owners of Sideboard, a neighborhood kitchen and coffee bar located at 3535 Plaza Way in Lafayette, have been named the 2026 Business Persons of the Year by the Lafayette Chamber of Commerce. The accolade was bestowed upon them at a celebratory dinner on Thursday, January 29, at the Lafayette Park Hotel & Spa, where the chamber also introduced its 2026 board of directors.

The recognition of the Andrews highlights their significant contributions to the Lafayette community. Sideboard, which opened in March 2016, has been a staple in the area, known for its scratch-cooked food and coffee from small roasters. The couple's involvement extends beyond their business, as they have been actively engaged in various community initiatives, including the Acalanes ASB card program and the Restaurant and Retail Program run by Lafayette Partners in Education. Their support has not gone unnoticed, with Lamorinda Sunrise Rotary recently honoring them for their community work.

The Lafayette Chamber of Commerce has a rigorous process for selecting its Business Person of the Year. Nominations are open each November, with the selection made in mid-December, leading to the award dinner in January or February. For 2026, the nomination deadline was December 5, 2025. The selection committee consists of five voting members, including the chamber president, vice president, the current recipient, and two board members, with a staff liaison to facilitate the process. To be eligible, nominees must have been chamber members for at least two years and demonstrate active involvement in a successful business or community organization.

Sideboard, known for its commitment to quality and community, has two locations, with the second store situated at 90 Railroad Ave. in Danville. The Lafayette store can be reached at (925) 310-4773, and those interested in learning more about the award can contact the Lafayette Chamber of Commerce at 925-284-7404.

The Andrews' recognition underscores the importance of community engagement and business success in Lafayette. As the chamber continues to support and celebrate local businesses, residents are encouraged to participate in future events and nominating processes. For those who own or work at Sideboard and wish to share their stories, the Lamorinda Post invites them to send a note.
